One thing I like about living in rural America is that no one seems to have any idea what is "in" and what is "out" when it comes to fashion. This allows me to wear pretty much whatever I want. This is good, because apparantly, after just one year of living in Wray, Co, I am already out of date. When Keith and I visited the big city last week, I was so excited to see "skinny jeans" on display that I had to try a pair on. They instantly brought me back to the mid '80s when my sister and I used to sew our jeans to a taper that fit our calves as tightly as possible while still allowing enough room to barely slip/tug/force them past our heel.
Then I read this. At this point I'm totally confused about what type of pants I am supposed to be wearing, but what I do know is that I am quite happy with my skinny jeans. While I also appreciate the baggy pants, I like the form fit of the skinnies. I also find it easier to wear flats with them because I don't have to find the perfect sized heel to wear with the long, baggy pants. In this manner, not only do I avoid the tripping, heel catching etc., but I will also avoid the following:
So no matter what the trends do, I plan to wear these skinny jeans as long as they have the tensile strength to form fit to my skinny ass.

Silly girl! Of course skinny jeans are still in! And since you are exactly who they hoped would wear them -- tall, skinny, beautiful -- you should totally rock the skinny pant look.
For the short ... er ... curvy girls we struggle with the skinny jean. It doesn't make us look like rock stars. It makes us look ... well ... bad.
And when I say wide leg pants are in again, I sort of mean that they are available again. There was a period last year where buying pants was a bit of a struggle because all of the retailers went skinny and I had to wear a lot of skirts.

Dr. Parry our pediatrician told my concerned mother that I would put my heels down eventually. I never did. So now I can barely wear flats, my feet are all ugly and distorted and don't like to be seen in public. However, I can wear atrociously high heels. Does that count as a skill?

Definately skill. I, on the other hand, look like a walking liability whenever I put on high heals (but I still do it from time to time because my husband tells me it's sexy and he cares not about my future bunions). Thanks for clarifying that at least one article of clothing I own is still in!
I think as long as we agree that no matter how many times Cloe Sevigny tries to rock the red carpet in denim shortalls (with pleats!) we will not wear them because they will never really be "in" in the sense of people actually walking around wearing them and looking cute, we're doing well in the fashion department.
Actually, I think as long as we aren't naked when it's cold, we're doing pretty good!
However, I do think I need a pair of leopard-print ballet flats ...
